coolest thing since sliced bread...

I stumbled upon one of the coolest videos I have ever seen and had to share! First of all it is interactive. At first, it looks like nothing out of the ordinary but as you scroll over various parts of the video another scenario is revealed. The campaign was started by a Danish bus company to appeal to younger drinking crowds as a smart way to get home. The video on its own shows two characters on a nice night out, however, when you hover over the video a similar scenario is shown with those two characters very intoxicated. Genius!!! How else could you use this technology?

Apple mouse scrolling problem solved!

My wired Mighty Mouse started acting up and didn't scroll down anymore. This clearly became a huge pain. I tried cleaning the ball, and tried to get underneath it as much as possible with a piece of paper, but nothing worked. I bought a new wireless Mighty Mouse, but for video editing, a wireless mouse just isn't precise enough, fast enough. So, I did some research on how to repair my wired mouse and I found this video. I followed directions and voila, the mouse works perfect. I was surprised at how much buildup accumulated over the years- it was pretty bad. No wonder it wasn't working. Meanwhile, if you're experiencing the same problems, then perhaps you'll find this video helpful too:

Georgians for Sunday Alcohol Sales

Luxeve Media is PRO Sunday alcohol sales in Georgia. We like to get our brew on too. For those of you not from Georgia, that's right, we can't buy alcohol from a liquor or grocery store on Sunday. We can only buy from restaurants. We're the last of 3 states to still have this archaic law, including Connecticut and Indiana. Well, the folks at Georgians for Sunday Alcohol Sales (on facebook) held a rally a couple of weeks ago at the State Capitol Building in Atlanta, GA. We teamed up with our good friend and awesome beer blogger, Ale Sharpton (AleSharpton.com) to provide video coverage of the event.

Enjoy the video, but more importantly voice your opinion. Are you for or against Sunday Sales and why? Tell me, tell your Representatives and Congressmen, tell everybody!

"A Little Motion Goes A Long Way"

"A Little Motion Goes A Long Way" from Luxeve Media, LLC on Vimeo.

One of our next purchases is going to be a dolly/ tracking rig of some sort. The Kessler CineSlider seems like one of the most talked about ones on the market right now, and would be an ideal choice. However, until we make that purchase, if we want to achieve that subtle yet cool motion in our shots we have to get creative. While filming for the new In-Room video at The Georgian Terrace Hotel in Atlanta, we used what we had available and were able to achieve the motion we were looking for.

Enjoy the video!

Filming in Sarasota, FL

We filmed my cousin, Joey, in Sarasota the other day. He is attending IMG Academy and totally looks like a baseball player with the heights of an NBA player. I love the first shot of Leeman "miking" him and the fact that he is standing on a chair to comfortably shoot him. We could not raise the tripod any more so we lowered the tripod and had Joey on his knees for the final shot. He is 6' 6 3/4" for the record!

Filming in the Dominican Republic

[Photos from Top to Bottom: Filming on a semi private beach, Sosua Beach, our Bed and Breakfast Casa Veintiuno (amazing place- click on the photo to see the picture larger) , and filming in Cabarete]
We just returned from a shoot in Sosua & Cabarete, Dominican Republic for a television show segment. The shoot went really well and seemed to be a very smart choice for the business. While filming I kept thinking a video is a great way to show off these towns. Prior to leaving for the Dominican I did a bunch of internet research to get a feel for the area, and though my impression was not far off, it took a long time and never fully convinced me how beautiful some parts were. There is something truly powerful about video that makes you feel like you are there. I love photographs, but sometimes photographs leave you wanting more. For example a photo makes you think what happens when I turn right or left, but a video guides you places, and you are happy to be along for the ride.
